Backpackers say visa changes make regional work less attractive

Backpackers who have been working in regional Australia say recent changes to the working holiday visa system will make it less attractive for others to follow in their footsteps.

For Meghan Morris, sweeping wine residue from a tank in the heat of the day is a necessary evil in exchange for a visa. The Irish backpacker, who has been in Australia for three years, has no complaints about her current job at Griffith's De Bortoli wines in the NSW Riverina, but recalls some of her previous jobs in a less flattering light.
