A 32-year-old man has been charged with murder over the deaths of two men discovered on a property near Grafton.

The body of a 79-year-old man was found inside a house on Summerland Way at Gurranang on September 13, and a 59-year-old man's body was found on Monday.

The State Crime Command's Homicide Squad established Strike Force Faneel to investigate the deaths.

Homicide Squad Commander Joe Doueihi said the 59-year-old was a relative of the older man. "He has been speaking to police, and attended New South Wales to sort out the estate for the deceased," Detective Inspector Doueihi said.

Police arrested 32-year-old Nicholas Marsden Scott at Grafton Base Hospital at about midday on Tuesday. Mr Scott was taken to Grafton Police Station and charged with two counts of murder and stealing a motor vehicle.

Inspector Doueihi confirmed Mr Scott was a neighbour of the two victims.

On Tuesday, NSW Police Superintendent Joanne Schultz said the scene was "confronting" for the first responders. "[They were] both clearly traumatic scenes and particularly for those officers that arrived on the scene yesterday and were not expecting to locate the 59-year-old male in the situation [where] he was deceased," she said.

Superintendent Schultz said the crime scene had not been maintained prior to the discovery of the second body.

Mr Scott appeared in Bail Division Court 1 today. He did not apply for bail, and will appear in Grafton Local Court in December.
