Search resumes for missing man near Albury
A 28-year-old man with an intellectual disability has been missing for four days after walking away from his home near Albury. A major search operation involving police, mounted officers, and a helicopter is underway to find Daniel Trenchard-Harry.
A major search operation is underway in southern New South Wales for a 28-year-old man with an intellectual disability who has been missing for four days.
Daniel Trenchard-Harry was last seen walking away from his home on Centaur Road at Hamilton Valley, near Albury, on Monday night at about 6:30pm. He was wearing blue boardshorts and a blue T-shirt and is believed to be on foot.
NSW Police Acting Inspector Troy Martin said police have serious concerns for Mr Trenchard-Harry's welfare and are urging anyone who sees him not to approach him, but instead to keep their distance and try talking to him about fishing.
"If anyone does see him, if you could just talk about fishing with him, if you can just keep your distance while involving him in that conversation, that would be fantastic," he said.
The search area has been expanded by about 20 kilometres and police believe Mr Trenchard-Harry is likely to be within 3 kilometres of his home due to his "physical limitations".
More than 60 people are involved in the official search, including police, mounted officers, motorbike riders, bushwalkers, specialist dogs and a NSW police helicopter. A staging area has been set up at the Lavington Sports Ground.
"He could have gone into the bushland, or he could have gone to the main road. We have no exact location at this stage," Acting Inspector Martin said.
Mr Trenchard-Harry's parents raised the alarm after they couldn't find him on Monday night. Acting Inspector Martin said the family are "quite upset, quite worried" and police are providing them with support.
Police have ruled out foul play and are asking residents around Centaur Road, Glenroy and Burrowes Road, as well as nearby parts of Albury, to check their properties, backyards, sheds, cars and caravans for any signs of Mr Trenchard-Harry.
