A homebuyer in north-west Sydney is facing a $40,000 shortfall after the property developer behind her off-the-plan apartment collapsed, putting a promised discount at risk.
May, a first-generation Filipino-Australian, agreed to buy an apartment in Marsden Park for around $800,000 a few years ago, with a 5 per cent discount offered by the developer, Bathla, as part of the deal. However, with the developer now in voluntary administration, May is unsure if the discount will be honoured.
