A woman accused of fatally striking a pedestrian in Jerrabomberra nearly two years ago has officially entered a plea of not guilty in court.

Theresa Anne McDonald, 55, appeared before the Queanbeyan Local Court facing charges of dangerous driving occasioning death, along with an alternative charge of negligent driving occasioning death. The charges stem from a morning crash in late 2024 that resulted in the death of 48-year-old Canberran Jackie McKeown.

Emergency services were called to Bicentennial Drive in Jerrabomberra shortly after 8:00 a.m. on November 17, 2024, following reports that a utility vehicle had struck a pedestrian.

Ms. McKeown, a mother of two who was walking alone at the time, sustained critical injuries. First responders and paramedics performed CPR and attempted extensive lifesaving measures, but she tragically passed away at the scene.

Case Heading to District Court
