Graphic Crime Scene Photos Shown in Beau Lamarre-Condon Double Murder Trial

A jury in a Sydney court has been shown graphic photographs of bloodstains found at the scene of a double murder, as the trial of former police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon continues.

The Crown alleges Mr Lamarre-Condon murdered Jesse Baird and his boyfriend Luke Davies by shooting them with his service pistol in Mr Baird's Paddington home in February 2024.

The jury was shown dozens of photographs from when expert forensic officers attended the property on February 22, 2024, several days after the alleged murders on February 19.

At the front of the property, police found a dismantled bed frame. Jurors heard there were apparent bloodstains on the bed head and bed base, which was confirmed through testing. DNA results later suggested some stains contained a profile of Mr Baird, Mr Davies, or both of the young men.

Similar photographs were taken and testing conducted on small stains on the floorboard in Mr Baird's bedroom.

Crime scene officers used a chemical called Luminol — a liquid sprayed onto a surface, which is used as a presumptive screening tool for blood.

“The chemical showed a blue glow in photographs to indicate the presence of blood not visible to the human eye,” the court heard.

The jury was also shown photographs of the hallway of the terrace with a blue glow on the floor, and the same glow in areas of the bedroom.

Skip Bin Discovery

The court heard bloodied linen and possessions were found in a skip bin at a Cronulla Bowls Club after Mr Baird and Mr Davies went missing.

According to a grounds keeper at the Cronulla club, there were several plastic bin bags containing clothing inside the skip bin on February 20, 2024, when he realised someone had used it.

“There were also AFL football shorts still in the packaging.”

In his statement, which was read to the court, Craig Scott said he realised some clothing from the bags had red staining on it.

“It looked like dried blood to me,” he wrote.

Mr Scott and a second worker also discovered a bedsheet with red stains, a silver watch and leather pouch, along with identification that belonged to Mr Davies.

“He said they both thought something ‘suspicious’ had occurred and reported the find to police.”

Trial Continues

The trial, before Justice Natalie Adams, is in its second week and has an estimated duration of three months.

Mr Lamarre-Condon has pleaded not guilty to murdering Mr Baird and Mr Davies.

The defence team has flagged an argument of self-defence, saying there were two separate struggles in the Brown Street property involving his police pistol, which resulted in the two deaths.
