A major police investigation is underway in Sydney’s south-west after an 18-year-old man was shot twice in the chest and a vehicle was found engulfed in flames just hours later in a linked incident.

Targeted Shooting in Greenacre

Emergency services rushed to Mimosa Road in Greenacre at approximately 9:00 PM on Thursday night following urgent reports of gunshots echoing through the residential area. Officers arrived to discover that a teenager had sustained two gunshot wounds to his chest on nearby Banksia Road before being driven to Mimosa Road.

Paramedics treated the young victim at the scene before rushing him to a nearby hospital. Authorities have confirmed he remains in a stable condition. The vehicle used to transport him to safety, a Skoda SUV, has been seized by police for rigorous forensic examination. Investigators are currently interviewing the driver of the Skoda to reconstruct the events leading up to the violence.

Ute Found Engulfed in Flames in Granville

The violence escalated in the early hours of Friday morning when emergency services were called to a vehicle fire on Celia Street in Granville around 3:00 AM. Firefighters quickly arrived to find a Toyota Hilux completely engulfed in flames.

While the blaze was successfully extinguished, the utility vehicle suffered extensive damage. Detectives believe the burnt-out vehicle is directly tied to the earlier shooting in Greenacre.

Local detectives and forensic specialists have established three distinct crime scenes across Banksia Road, Mimosa Road, and Celia Street as they piece together the timeline of the targeted attack.
