A quiet community in the Southern Tablelands has been thrown into shock following the grim discovery of a body concealed inside a suitcase.

Local detectives and forensic specialists have descended on the rural locality of Oallen, located approximately 60 kilometres south-east of Goulburn, after a suspicious item was located near a local roadway.

Police Establish Crime Scene

Officers from the Hume Police District were called to Wolgon Road just before 1:00 PM. Upon arriving at the scene, police located the suitcase and made the tragic discovery inside. While formal identification is yet to take place, investigators believe the deceased is a female.

Specialist forensic police have established a secure crime scene around the area on Wolgon Road. The suitcase has been carefully seized and will undergo rigorous forensic and pathological examination in hopes of identifying the victim and determining the cause of death.

Oallen, a picturesque and typically peaceful rural locality situated along the Shoalhaven River, is home to a small, close-knit community. Located 109 kilometres north-east of Canberra and 254 kilometres south-west of Sydney, the area is popular with campers and local fishers, making the horrific find particularly unsettling for residents.

Detectives are urging anyone who may have seen suspicious activity on or around Wolgon Road over the past few days, or anyone who has dashcam footage from the area, to contact local police immediately.
