Faraz Tahir, a 30-year-old Pakistani refugee who had sought safety in Australia, was working his first daytime shift as a security guard when the senseless violence unfolded. He was one of six innocent people killed in the attack. For Abdullah Ashraf, the passage of time has not diminished the pain of losing a friend whom he describes as a selfless and dedicated individual.

Standing near the site of the memorial, Ashraf reflected on Tahir's character and the ultimate sacrifice he made. “Faraz was always the first to help others,” Ashraf shared. “He died doing exactly what he believed in—protecting people. Returning here is incredibly difficult, but it is important to ensure his bravery is never forgotten.”
