A major injection of funding has been announced for regional road upgrades in New South Wales, with the state and federal governments committing over $1.2 billion to improve vital routes.
The funding will be used to upgrade several key corridors, including the route between Newcastle and Dubbo, which has been used to transport large wind turbines and generators to the Central West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ).
Boost for regional roads
The Albanese government is contributing $674 million, while the Minns government is investing $610 million. When combined with previously announced contributions, the total investment from both governments now stands at $1.74 billion.
Federal Transport Minister Catherine King said the upgrades would help ensure the state's supply chains remain uninterrupted.
