Newcastle Knights veteran Tyson Frizell has celebrated a monumental 300-game NRL milestone, leading his side out into a frigid Canberra afternoon for a highly anticipated clash against the Raiders.

A Milestone for a Modern Great

Frizell, who made his NRL debut back in 2011 with the Cronulla Sharks, walked out onto the pitch alone to a resounding reception from the Canberra crowd, accompanied by his wife and three sons. The back-rower played 12 games for the Sharks before enjoying an eight-season stint with the St George Illawarra Dragons, where he racked up 165 appearances. Since joining Newcastle in 2021, Frizell has been a cornerstone of the Knights' pack, with today's match marking his 123rd appearance for the blue and red.

Though named to start, Frizell ultimately made his milestone appearance off the bench, a role he has adapted to seamlessly this season.

Late Changes and Chilly Conditions

Conditions in the nation's capital were characteristically icy, with temperatures hovering around 9°C but feeling closer to 4.8°C as light rain threatened. Despite the wet forecast, Raiders winger Jed Stuart insisted the home side would not shrink from their expansive style. "We'll probably still back our skill, whether it's wet or not," Stuart said ahead of kick-off.

Both coaching staffs were forced into late adjustments. For the Raiders, Tom Starling was promoted to the starting hooker role, with Owen Pattie dropping to the bench. The Knights faced a major setback with star center Bradman Best ruled out late due to a calf strain, replaced by Fletcher Hunt, while Harrison Graham started at hooker in place of the omitted Phoenix Crossland.

NRL Judiciary: Munster Facing Suspension

Away from Canberra, the big talking point in the NRL is Melbourne Storm superstar Cameron Munster, who is facing a one-match ban. Munster was hit with a grade-two dangerous contact charge following a tackle on Sea Eagles prop Taniela Paseka during Saturday's clash. Munster can accept a one-game suspension with an early guilty plea, or risk a two-match ban if he fights the charge at the judiciary and loses.

NRLW: Raiders Pull Off Stunning Upset

Earlier in the day, Canberra's NRLW side produced one of the upsets of the season, dismantling the heavy-favorite Brisbane Broncos 28-4. Charlotte Basham was the star of the show, crossing for a double to hand the Broncos their first defeat of the season. Brisbane struggled in the absence of suspended captain Ali Brigginshaw, while the clinical Raiders capitalized on every opportunity to secure a memorable victory.
